Economy 10
ECONOMY 10 - Fuel Tariff
Economy 10 is designed for homes that have electrical space and water heating systems, it is ideally suited to customers with Sueka electric radiators.It has a service charge, a standard unit price, and a lower off peak unit price.
The 3 off-peak periods offer the lowest unit rates (KWh), hours of the 3 off-peak slots are:
- Midnight to 5:00am
- 1:00pm to 4:00pm
- 8:00pm to 10:00 pm
Please note this is GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). In the summer BST (British Summer Time) all the above times are advanced by 1 hour.So in BST the cheaper period commences at 1.00 am and ends at 6.00 am so on for the other two slots.
It is important to note that these times apply to all electricity consumed within these periods - not just heating.There is no restriction to what time appliances and heating can be used.Ideally, to reduce running costs as far as possible radiators should be programmed to come on within the hours of the off-peak tariff, as listed above.

REC Areas in which SSE can presently install Economy 10 meters:

Executive approval has now been given for agreements to be established with all other REC Areas for Economy 10 meters to be fitted on SSE's behalf.This should have been achieved by April 2005.
